Introduction/challenge
An injection molding manufacturer requires stable swivel mounts for fixing safety covers at various points in the automation system - these are fixed with a movable axis, while the four outer screw points ensure a fixed connection to the base. The curved, ribbed geometry is a lightweight construction with high rigidity. The component is load-bearing without using unnecessary material.

The holder can be quickly adapted in the design to the position of given holding points on different machines and quickly customized in an ideal fit.

Solution

The FDM process with PA-CF is ideal here because it provides a stable, lightweight and highly customized holder, without tooling costs and with high flexibility for a wide range of dimensions. Particularly for small series, it makes much more sense than conventional production due to its flexibility, efficiency and time savings.

The manufacturer uses the Tiq 2 from innovatiQ to print customized swivel mounts for safety devices in automation with individual dimensions and holding points directly using the FDM process.
